Dr. Rodriguez is a clinical psychologist and rehabilitation counselor with over 15 years of experience treating mental health issues with particular expertise in alcohol and substance abuse treatment.

Dr. Errol Rodriguez, Ph.D., CRC, is the assistant dean and program director of the Master’s programs in Psychology and Mental Health Counseling at Adelphi University, Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies. He has nearly 20 years of clinical experience treating a range of psychological issues with particular expertise in addiction. He provides interventions, clinical evaluations, and a variety of techniques to address all phases of addiction.
Over the last 10 years, he has developed and implemented two family-focused interventions for substance abusing patients and their families, including a time-limited educational intervention for children. In addition he has served as a forensic consultant on legal matters involving child custody and addiction.
Prior to Adelphi, he was the director of the Family and Youth Addiction Program at Jacobi Medical Center, a New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) clinic located in Bronx, New York. In addition, he served as director of the Family Program and subsequently the Children’s Program at Inter-Care, an OASAS-licensed substance abuse treatment center in New York City.
Dr. Rodriguez has published papers on addiction and its effect on the family system and has lectured widely. His current research focus is on the impact of social media, social networking, and compulsive internet use on life satisfaction and overall well-being.
Dr. Rodriguez earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from The City University of New York and was the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Kenneth Clark Research Award. He received his master’s in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his bachelor’s in psychology from Long Island University.
