Dr. Jacques Barber will be honored for lifetime work with the 2018 Distinguished Psychologist Award for Contributions to Psychology and Psychotherapy.

Dr. Jacques Barber, professor and dean of Adelphi’s highly regarded Derner School of Psychology, is recognized internationally for his research into psychotherapy, his active membership in professional organizations and his service on the editorial boards of top journals. In 2014, the Society for Psychotherapy Research awarded him its Distinguished Research Career Award.

This May, it was announced that Dr. Barber will add to that distinction with another honor for lifetime work: the 2018 Distinguished Psychologist Award for Contributions to Psychology and Psychotherapy, to be conferred in August by Division 29: Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy.

Dr. Barber is proud of the accomplishments of Ph.D. students at Derner, including three who are being honored this year by the American Psychological Association—Michael Katz, who will receive the Jeffrey E. Barnett Psychotherapy Research Paper Award from Division 29; Taylor Groth, who won Mathilda B. Canter Education and Training Award, also from Division 29; and Nili Solomonov, who was awarded a Walfish Grant by Division 42.
