While women and racial/ethnic minority groups are growing in the ranks of leadership in corporations, institutions of higher education, and the political sector, conversations about leadership continue to portray women leaders as the exception. Styles of leadership alternately portray women leaders as "soft and ineffective" or having the "female advantage."
The Women and Leadership Lecture, featuring prominent women leaders and scholars on leadership who have broken the gender barrier and addressed cutting edge issues of gender and leadership, will explore the challenges faced by women leaders, the differences in how they lead, and the gender role expectations and diversity that influence their leadership styles.
In partnership with the Adelphi University Women, Peace and Justice Project; Office of Alumni Relations; and the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls.
