Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

A comprehensive and in-depth study.

Through discussions about case material presented by participants, this workshop will address some of the challenges of psychodynamic treatment with adults.

Some of the topics we might explore are:

  • Identifying transference-countertransference theme in ongoing treatment
  • The clinician’s use of the self in service of the treatment
  • Establishing a therapeutic frame that works for the therapist and the patient
  • Dealing with specific syndromes, such as substance abuse and addiction, borderline personality, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and sadism and masochism, in interpersonal relations.

Objectives

Participants will learn how to identify transference and countertransference manifestations in their work with adult patients in individual treatment.

Participants will be able to identify important issues in establishing the frame in individual treatment with adults and will be aware of the consequences for treatment.
