Introduction
The practice of psychology is a combination of scholarly inquiry and professional service. Practitioners draw on and contribute to the evolving body of knowledge about the workings of the human mind and seek to help patients improve their lives and transform the way they relate to others. For over five decades, the renowned Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies has trained professional psychologists to be both scholars and professionals.
The Master's of Arts programs reflect the current and future needs of society. They are designed to meet the new challenges in health care and in the science and practice of psychology.
Clinical psychologists need to learn both critical reasoning skills and develop empathy for patients. The programs emphasize professional practice while integrating research and theory from across many disciplines.
