From Derner Emerging Scholar to Psy.D. candidate at Rutgers

Brendan Graziano ’11 described his time in the Derner Institute Emerging Scholars Program as “extremely memorable.” He particularly valued his relationship with his research mentor, Professor Joel Weinberger, Ph.D. “Not only was he an excellent research mentor and great to work with, but he also supported me significantly throughout the graduate school application process,” Mr. Graziano said. “I fondly remember having had many conversations with Joel regarding my professional interests and goals. The Emerging Scholars Program helped me to develop this valuable professional relationship, which still exists today.”

After graduating from Adelphi University in 2011, Mr. Graziano worked for over a year as a clinical research coordinator at Zucker Hillside Hospital, and is currently pursuing a Psy.D. at Rutgers University. “Having been exposed to the research process and statistics through the Emerging Scholars Program certainly helped in transitioning to other research projects,” he said.
